Hotter Holidays in LanzaroteTravel, Travel Information, Traveling Tips Comments Off

The island of Lanzarote is already well known for its excellent year round weather, which can be as sunny in December as it is in June. But what many people don’t realise is that even on an island as small as this, there are distinct microclimates.
This is particularly relevant to holidaymakers planning their next trip abroad. As some of the resorts are better able to provide sunshine and consistent temperatures than others. Puerto del Carmen for instance is sheltered by a range of reasonably high volcanoes at its back and is therefore significantly warmer than further north.
And the southern most town of Playa Blanca has the best weather of all, at least one or two degrees hotter than the northern most tip of Lanzarote. Making the beaches of Papagayo found just to its eastern edge some of the pleasantest to visit.
So it is no surprise to find that the best accommodation can be found in holiday villas in Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen. As this is where visitors are most likely to get the fullest use out of the private swimming pool and outdoor dining facilities.
Playa Blanca is also a good choice of destination for hotel-lovers. A number of recently constructed Lanzarote hotels hug the coastline here, overlooking the Bocaina Strait and with views of neighbouring Fuerteventura. With several boasting mature tropical gardens and heated swimming pools.
But of course, intense heat isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Many prefer a slight breeze or fresher air and the resort to the north of Arrecife, which is called Costa Teguise, can offer just this kind of atmosphere. It is home to a good range of Lanzarote accommodation as well, with everything from studios and apartments to villas and quality hotels.
For those who are truly indifferent to the weather, there are many more secluded and unusual parts of the island to stay in. The little fishing village of Arrieta, for example, has several holiday apartments to rent close to its lovely beach of Playa Garita.
Whilst the more adventurous may decide to find accommodation inland at one of the boutique style small rural hotels or in a villa in the countryside. These kinds of properties offer much more in the way of peace and quiet and make the ideal place to stay for those in need of a complete break from urban living.
